Distance Training this Weekend

Team, a change to the published training schedule

The group 2 training group headed by Alan Bent and me will meet on SUNDAY at 8:30 AM at the Lookout for a 16 mile training run on roads and footpaths.  We'll be going out towards Finchampstead.

Well done team BFR!

Many thanks indeed to everyone involved in Sunday's TVXC race which we hosted at Lightwater Country Park, especially Paul Venn and those others who had to re-route the second lap to avoid the motor cycle event!

Our ladies finished 3rd led home by Elaine, Catherine (first time out - well done) and Tania. Our men were 4th led home by Mike, Paul and Steven (Mike takes today's spoils but Annie wins 4 to 3 for the season Smiling )

Our overall team position today was also 4th. The league has now drawn to a close and we maintained our 4th place overall after the seven races.

London Marathon – Sunday 22nd April 2012

As usual we are taking 2 coaches down to the London Marathon, one for runners/supporters and one for Helpers.  Thank you to all of you that have volunteered to help on the Baggage Lorries and Drinks station, we have enough people and a few in reserve.

If you are running the marathon and want a seat on the coach to the start please let Linda know as soon as possible.  The seat is free to all club members but it will be £10 for anyone else.  You can either e-mail Linda on lindarayman@btinternet.com or see her at the track or Look Out.

Final TVXC League race this season

The unfortunate cancellation of the Finchcoasters race means that our race on 22 January will be the final race of this seasons' league.

We will once again be holding the race at Lightwater Country Park, GU18 5RG. We will be sharing the available parking with other users of the Park so please car share as much as possible to reduce congestion.

As usual we are asking all our members to attend as either runners, marshals, refreshments team and other officials.  Of course we also need you all to be as generous as ever with donations of food (sweet and savoury) for the post race refreshments.

Let's make this one mega team!

Fantastic Start to the New Year

No mathematical quirk this Sunday; our 33 members who took part in the TVXC fixture at Tadley came a very comfortable third team overall.

Our ladies finished fifth led home by Elaine, Lorayne and Tania. Our men though shone through finishing third led home by Paul, Stephen and Mike.

After the first 6 races we remain fourth in the league andt if Datchet remain weak for the rest of the season we will win back third position in the league.

Oh and for those of you following the Mike – Annie competition Annie was unavailable so Mike is claiming a win!  Bask while the sun shines Paul!!

Fully rested and ready for TVXC 6???

The sixth match in the Thames Valley Cross Country league will be held this Sunday, January 8, at Hurst Community College, Tadley, RG26 5NL. Car sharers should meet in Bracknell Sports Centre car park alongside the all weather pitches at 9:00AM. Alternatively you can drive directly to the venue, race start time being 11:00AM. Please refer to the TVXC website for a map.  There is a 15 minute walk to the start - good warm up!

As usual BFR pays our members entry fees from club funds and Tadley Runners, the host club, will provide refreshments after the event.

Will Mike be close enough to Annie to taste her dust - you've got to be there to feel the rivalry Smiling
